To foster an environment of cooperation & collegiality that enhances opportunities to achieve success of the agreed-upon goals of MVP Health Care, MVMA, & practicing physicians.
MVMA has created an infrastructure of professionals to provide a direct avenue of communication for our physicians. MVMA is 100% physician-controlled, with six committees that report to the Board of Directors: Finance, Peer Review, Membership, Nominating & Governance, Executive and Compensation.
Each committee consists of participating IPA physicians representing multiple specialties and geographies and is updated every year depending upon need and active participation. This committee structure is the basis for the many decisions made by the Board of Directors in the areas of quality of care, medical management, credentialing, and physician compensation.
The MVMA Medical Director is the key component in the physician-to-physician relationship. Many times, physicians are contacted to discuss options in treatment and educated regarding benefits and policies by our medical director, who is accessible virtually, by phone and email as well as personal meetings. He is actively involved in the development and implementation of policies affecting our physicians, review of physician credentials, and development of recommendations on issues that are presented to the Board of Directors and subcommittees.
Our staff conducts virtual and personal visits with physicians and their practice administrators to provide clinical feedback and discuss trends in providing care, as well as reimbursement and policy concerns. MVMA physicians are also known as MVP providers and as such, MVP communicates with our physicians through "fast faxes" that provide information regarding policies and changes, pharmacy updates, and practice guidelines.
Our administrative office is located within the MVP Health Care corporate headquarters located in Schenectady, NY which provides us with a unique ability to work in concert with MVP on issues which require the input of both organizations.
